Teacher: What’s bigger: 22/7 or 3.14?
Student: They are equal.
Teacher: Why do you say that?!
Student: They are both equal to π.
A similar conversation between one of my high school peers and me:
Me: Look! I can calculate Pi to the first few digits in a couple of seconds! [TI-83, Leibniz series]
Peer: Can’t you just do 22/7?
Me: No, that’s an approximation…
