Did You Notice?

I recently posted a short article on plagiarism. Did you notice that not a word of it was mine?

  1. Felipe Pait:

Did you copy from one author, or from many?

  2. Tanya Khovanova:

    Felipe,

My readers are supposed to figure everything out.

  3. Chris Long:

She copied the words from a dictionary without attribution. 🙂

Our brains are biological computers, all the information in it has to come from somewhere (the laws of physics don’t allow information to be created out of nothing, in quantum mechanics this follows from unitary time evolution), so our entire personal identity is actually a combination of that of many other people, which means that we are not necessarily plagiarizing anything when we write what others have written before.
